  LRC Projects

The LRC is involved in four main projects with the different Egyptian Universities in the field of medicine.

Collaborative Digitization of Medical Libraries (CDML)

A 2 - year project (due date: February 2007) that aims to create the conditions necessary for immaculate research and literature access. By the completion of this project in February 2007 , seven universities will have pooled their resources for online access.

Simulation for Medical Education & Skills Training (S4MedEd)

A 36-months project targeting mostly post-graduate medical students to help them acquire the more complex clinical and surgical skills required for specialist practice. Among the targeted skills are sophisticated clinical skills including advanced life support, skills for Gastro-intestinal (GI) endoscopy and bronchoscopy, whether diagnostic or interventional, and minimally invasive endoscopic surgical procedures in the different surgical specialties.

Virtual Learning Environment for Medical Education (VLE)

A 12-months project, which is a pilot study on application of e-learning in the under-graduate curriculum. The project will introduce three new modules, which will be piloted in three groups of medical students in three different years. The aim is to allow tutors and faculty curriculum managers to gain experience in the application of sound pedagogic principles to deliver online learning resources and study guides to the students.

Information Technology & Clinical Skills Training (ITCST)

A 30-months project targeting undergraduate medical students to help them acquire the clinical skills required for their basic general practice, given that many students lack the basic procedural skills, like IV access and the skills of resuscitation and primary intervention in emergency cases as endo-tracheal intubation. Among the basic skills are not only craft related, but also problem solving skills that enable the students to utilize the available resources rather than recall them by heart.

E-learning

The LRC offers a-state-of-the-art E-learning system in many medical fields. This web technology opens lots of opportunities for efficient, on-demand and just-in-time delivery of text, pictures and video materials.

Digital Library

The Collaborative Digitization of Medical Libraries (CDML) is a joint project between seven faculties of medicine in Egypt, four academic bodies and the private sector.

Digital Media Courses

Web, illustrations, programming, design & e-learning Courses are offered by the Digital Media Courses (DMS) facility of the LRC.
